Morning Stripes

A breakfast nook, in black, white and red...would be my fantasy of perfection in a kitchen!!!!
So, here is perfection...

The juxtaposition of the black chairs with the all white banquette and table, curtains, and walls...and the pop of red and white stripes, makes this a fantastic way to add some pattern and some fun into your kitchen...
imagine it in a white kitchen, with subway tile backsplash, stainless appliances, a red stove, and an Andy Warhol Campbell's Soup print...we might just have a piece of heaven!

Hand it Over

I have a sort of obsession with handbags...okay, an obsession!

I am partial to those actually carried in the hand...and maybe even on the lower arm...but I can tell you that I love them all, in some way or another.

My current list of favorites are a mix of "IT" bags and others, that just tickly my fancy.

Alexander Wang Rocco Baby Duffel
I love the duffel styling, the slightly smaller size, the rich leather, and the FANTABULOUS studs on the bottom for style and substance!

Chloe Paddington
My number one "it" bag of ALL TIMES...love the leather, love the lock, love the look!

Louis Vuitton Bloomsbury
A longtime lover of the Speedy, I traded in my love for this new baby, with the pleat in the middle, the Damier class, and the strap to wear as a shoulder or cross body bag!

Halston Foxy Clutch
It's Halston...and it is gorgeous with the snakeskin and gold latch!
It will go with anything...and did I mention it was Halston?

Proenza Schouler Suede PS1 Bag
This is BY FAR the best work bag ever, in this rich suede teal...I think I have fallen in love!

Shoe Stoppers: Gilded Lilac

Brian Atwood Loca Pumps

Boy oh boy, these decadent and purty little darlings are a sight to behold.
Wear em like Carrie with skinny crops and a plaid shirt, or make em the main attraction with a neutral or dark dress or separates.
BA's are coming up in the world!

Pull Up a Chair

I have never been one to decorate my table with place settings, HOWEVER, I love the look when preparing for a dinner party or a family holiday.
So I have been on the lookout for some fabulous dinnerware and glassware that will balance the hard dark wood parsons table and modern chippendale chairs in the room. Nothing too girly, but definitely something with a little whimsy!

I guess I will be picking from some of these fabulous finds, or mixing and matching...

Set # 1
I love the mixture of the decorative plates with the simple plates, with the touch of blue! The dessert bowls are beautiful and the glasses give a modern edge to the set.

(Z Gallerie and Crate and Barrel)

Set #2
This purple and silver set is really pretty and gives some graphic interest to the table. I love the silver glasses, and how they play off the silver trim of the plates.

(Z Gallerie, Crate and Barrel, and Neiman Marcus)

Set#3
This is the Platinum setting...the Kelly Wurstler dinnerware with the scalloped mirrored chargers are definitely Hollywood Regency glam! The gold edged stemware rounds out the collection perfectly.

(All from Neiman Marcus)

Costume Ball

Every year the stars go out to the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Gala. It is usually hallmarked by over the top fashion and haute couture gowns. This year, the looks seemed a little tame, but I still found a few stunners I thought I would share:

Nicole Richie in Marc Jacobs looked both glam and easy in this floor length gown.

Kerry Washington looked sexy and HOT in her Thakoon ruched red number!

Sarah Jessica Parker, never one to disappoint, looks like a million bucks in this Halston pleated frock!

I typically don't fall head over heels for Diane Kruger, but I love the simplicity and the drama of this dress...and uh, her body is sick!

Hollywood Glamour is still DEFINITELY live and in living color!

Shoe Stoppers: Hearts a Ruffled

Every now and then I run across a shoe that makes my heart flutter...
and this one has done it.
I am sure I have seen it before, but for some reason when I saw it plain, in all of its glory...not distracted by some model's size 13 feet or a celebrity's toes which had been obviously stuffed in towering stilts one too many times...I felt my heart...well...ruffle!
It is a simple sandal, at its foundation, but it is the lace ruffling running up the front of the shoe that makes it so fabulous. It would liven up a simple black dress, or take your jeans, tee, blazer, and statement necklace up a notch on the glam scale. And let's be honest...the fact that they are Louboutins make them THAT MUCH more fab, because we know there are no other 5 inch shoes in the world that we would rather put our feet in!
LOVE THESE!

Enjoy!

Outdoor Decor

We at Haute Events are planning an outdoor graduation party for a friend, and we are fast approaching the date. Since it is outdoors, we were tasked with making this a really pretty and special event for a young lady, while still holding true to the "nature" of the location.

It can be a trying task finding appropriate decorations for an outdoor event. They have to be sturdy enough to stand up to the elements, even if it is just wind...and inexpensive enough that if they cannot be reused, you have not spent all of your life savings.
Here are some great outdoor decorations you can use to make your next backyard event a hit!

Tissue Pom Poms are inexpensive but beautiful decoration for a girls birthday party, graudation party, or your own grown up girl affair. Hang them from clear monofilament from trees or attach smaller ones to a fence to spell out the name of the special guest.

Paper Banners can be really great ideas for a sunny day outside. You can make them yourself or order them and get cool thematic pictures added, like pirate ships for a fun boys birthday party.

String Lights are great and inexpensive decoration. They add a bit of light once it gets dark outside, and they make the party festive and even a bit sexy!

Standing or staked tealight holders make for a great addition to a grown up outdoor affair. A little more pricey than string lights, they add an extra special touch!

Metal Lanterns are really pretty and let off a brillant source of light when a tealight candle is put inside. They come in a range of colors, are of medium expense, but can be used over again, or even added to your own outdoor decor for a bit of whimsy!

Citronella Flower Torches are multi-functional...they add a pretty touch to the outside AND they keep the bugs away. What a pretty way to zap those little critters before they get to your hot dogs!

A Beach Ball Fountain is a cool way to give your kid's pool party a good look and full of fun! This can be used over and over again, and is just cute!!!

A TeePee is another fun addition to your yard for a great kids party. You can even leave it outside for your kids to have lots of summer fun in this special little hideaway. Give kids fabric markers at the party, and have them draw little pictures of themselves all over, leaving behind a great little piece of treasure for your birthday girl or boy!
