The Asphalt Jungle

Lady Sings the Blues

Rocky

Bonnie and Clyde

Most people, when they are searching for wall art, look for contemporary paintings, prints of Monet, or use their own family photos. In a modern or contemporary room that is full of style, a movie poster can be art. The picture of Diana Ross next to your vanity, or the Rocky poster in the gameroom, bring your own personal style and taste into your home, without spending hundreds of dollars on a one of a kind masterpiece.

old v. NEW: Color Stoves

I love the idea of an all white kitchen, glass door cabinet fronts up top. modern stainless handles. A stainless countertop with a a stainless below mount huge sink. A tall spray faucet. Subway tile backsplash, and a painted wood floor with MANGER stenciled in the center of the floor.
Pics of Paris on the walls. Black and white fabric swag curtains...and A BIG PRETTY BLUE OR RED STOVE.

So in my dreams, I wonder, if my stove is old or NEW?

An O'Keefe and Merritt Red Porcelain Model 420

Viking Cobalt Blue Professional Series Stove

Now, if someone were giving them away, and I could pick either...I might have to say I would take the Viking...and likewise, since those oldies by goodies tend to cost upwards of $3000.00 and are subject to a wide range of breakdowns, I might have to admit that I would purchase the Viking over to O&M. I must say tho, that little red stove is a beauty!

Pick: Cobalt Blue Viking

Multi Purpose Rooms

Photo Courtesty of Hus & Hem

I saw this recently on Apartment Therapy, and I did a triple take.
First, I love the wood. Second, I love the little seating area. Third, I LOVE that I can work, entertain, read, watch TV, lounge, or hey, take a nap...all in one space. It is great!
Yay...for multipurpose room...I guess that is why I love my
office/gym/girl getaway so much!

Off the Wall

Well I guess it would really be...On the Wall.

I have always loved the Vitra Uten-Silo, the wall grid organizer that is wayyy cool and wayyy expensive. At $350 for the smaller version, that is a tough pill to swallow.
However it is so modern and stylish:

DeLuxe Dining

One of the chairs in my dining room broke, leaving me with only three woven rattan and wood chairs and matching table, all from Pier 1...in other words, not something I was going to have an easy time replacing.

So, it seemed like the PERFECT time to update the dining room.
I started with this:

I then cleaned up my hardwood floors, turned that Ikea Expedit Bookcase into a sideboard. Put the white doors on for contrast, and a wine glass rack. I wanted a mix of Hollywood Regency and Contemporary...so I paired streamline furniture with a bit of glam...a croc butler's table from ZGallerie, white beachstone table runner, rich white seat cushions, the round ornate back of the chair, and the red paint on the walls (Behr's Frosted Pomegranate)!

I am currently waiting on my Parson's Table from West Elm and I ordered some air plants, white rocks, and diamond table scatters for a custom glitz terrarium...

Pictures coming SOON!

Oscar My Oh My...

I threw an Oscar party in my bedroom...
Me, the hubby, a can of Vernor's and some Girl Scout Thin Mints....oh, and the Oscar's of course!

Loved Neil Patrick Harris...Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin...the glitz, the glam, Mo'Nique winning the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in Precious...and

Rachel McAdams in this Elie Saab wonder:

My pic for best dressed...I thought immediately, NOW THAT is a dress!  Way to go Rachel...
Congrats Mo'Nique!
NOW...on to some home fabulousness!
